Description
The floor model is a replica of the Japanese fighter called the Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien. Due to the fact that the Ki-61 had a liquid-cooled engine, the Hien was apparently mistaken for a German aircraft and was therefore nicknamed "Tony". The fighter saw its first combat action in early 1943 and proved that it was quite competitive with a top speed of 580 km/h. The TAMIYA kit version impresses with its high accuracy of fit as well as its attention to detail. Matching the 1:48 scale fighter plane, the 1:48 scale Kurogane reconnaissance vehicle completes the diorama. The Kurogane was used by the Japanese Army and Navy and 4,800 units were manufactured.
