Special Features
These 75w GU10 Reptile Basking Heat Lamps work well with our Reptile T5HO UVB + GU10 Basking Light Fixtures. The GU10's compact size and efficiency enables mounting the streamlined fixture underneath the top screen mesh.
Selecting the wattage of the GU10 Reptile Basking Heat Lamp determines the surface temperature of the basking spot. For example, we aim for 110-120 degrees with bearded dragons as measured with an IR Surface Temp Thermometer on a basking rock. Which wattage depends on several factors; the terrarium height and size, the ambient room temperature and in some locations, the season (summer/winter).
Whichever wattage is selected should be checked initially with a surface temp thermometer, and seasonally verified. A 20L should take a 50w or 35w, 36x18x18 start with a 75w, 36x18x24 a 75w and a 50w, 48x18x18 start with a 75w, 48x18x24 a 75w and a 50w or another 75w, 48x24x18 a 75w and a 50w, 48x24x24 two 75w's. A fixture with a second basking socket gives the flexibility of fine-tuning or seasonally adjusting by adding another heat lamp.
Lighting fixtures, tubes and heat lamps are listed on our Amazon Storefront - Lighting & Heating pull-down menu for different groups.
