History of Aztec Death Whistles:
First findings of Aztec Death Whistle Skull
The engineer José Luis Franco investigated since 1960 the azteca death whistle found in archaeological sites throughout Mexico.
Years later, the engineer Roberto Velázquez Cabrera did an exhaustive investigation in which he identified a group of whistles that he himself called "whistles of death".
This term (whistles of death) arose in 1999, following the discovery of the remains of a man, about 20 years old, who had been sacrificed in what is now the archaeological site of Tlatelolco in Mexico City. In each of his hands, archaeologist Salvador Guilliem Arroyo found two ceramic whistles decorated in the shape of a human skull, which were what today we know as Aztec Death Whistle.
