Reishi mushroom is one of the most famous herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist Tonic Herbalism. Reishi contains a great number of bioactive molecules- there is no one single compound within this mushroom that can be singled out as the main active compound. The two most interesting classes of compounds within Reishi are the immune-modulating beta-glucan polysaccharides and the adaptogenic triterpenes.
This is a 50/50 mix of a dual extract of the reishi fruiting body and cracked cell reishi spore powder. At the end of the growing season, the mushrooms release millions of spores (think of these like the pollen or seed of the mushroom world). These spores are collected and undergo high-pressure processing to crack the shell wall, which would otherwise be impenetrable to our digestion, thus giving us access to the nutrients and exotic compounds inside. The spores contain the essential nutrients of reishi and the highest levels of active compounds such as beta-glucans and triterpenes, making them even more potent than the fruiting body in many ways.
