One of the most important changes is that sailors no longer need tools to operate this self-tailing winch. You simply unscrew the winch top, remove drum and you have access to the gear train. Each winch component is unique and can only be re-assembled one way.The stainless steel mounted feeder arm on the winch prevents line trap above jaws. The wave spring jaws automatically adjusts to various line diameters. The winch is self-tailing and includes arrows for rotation, especially helpful for new crew members.The Lewmar self-tailing winch has an aluminum gray anodized alloy drum and has a base diameter for 4-3/4" and stands 4-11/16" tall.
