FunnelApplication
The funnel viscometer is a daily on-site device used to measure the relative viscosity of mud (compared to water). It has a simple structure, convenient operation, and reflects the effective viscosity under certain conditions. The higher the funnel viscosity (in seconds), the higher the apparent viscosity of the mud. Generally, mud flows out in a laminar or structural state, which reasonably reflects changes in mud viscosity and consistency.
Features
Both viscosity and gel strength are related to the measurement of fluid flow properties. The funnel viscometer has been used for many years to measure the relative viscosity of drilling fluid. The standard value is that the time for 946ml of standard distilled water to flow out at 20 ± 2 is 26 ± 5S. All Martensian funnel viscometers are made of sturdy and durable materials, with precision machined brass orifices to ensure accurate measurement.
Technical parameter
(1) Martensian funnel: The diameter of the upper end of the cone is 152mm, and the diameter of the lower end of the cone is 4.76mm, with a length of 50.8mm. The length of the cone is 305mm, and the total length of the funnel is 356mm.
(2) The sieve mesh size is 1.6mm ( tthat is 12 mesh).
(3) Filter capacity below 1500ml.
(4) Standard measuring cup 946ml.
Method of using the Marsh funnel viscometer:
(1) Hold the funnel in an upright position with your hand, place the filter screen at the upper opening of the funnel, and block the outlet of the guide tube with your index finger.
(2) Take a sample of the tested mud and inject it into the cone of the funnel through the filter screen until the horizontal surface of the mud reaches the bottom surface of the screen. (At this time, it happens to be 1500ml)
(3) Prepare a stopwatch, then release the index finger and press the stopwatch to record the time until the 946ml standard measuring cup is full. Record the number of seconds when the mud flows out, an
