Thor, the Norse god of thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing and fertility, is a prominent figure in both myth and modern media. As a member of the Æsir, the principal group of gods in Norse mythology, Thor wields the mighty hammer Mjölnir, which is capable of leveling mountains and returning to his hand after being thrown. He is described as a fierce and tireless defender of Asgard, the realm of the gods, and Midgard, the world of humans, engaging in countless battles against the Jötnar (giants). Thor's mythology is rich with themes of heroism, resilience, and divine power, capturing the imagination of cultures both ancient and contemporary. He is notably the son of Odin, the All-Father, and Jord (Earth), and is often depicted traveling the heavens in a chariot drawn by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr.
