Function: The electric choke solves the problem of the manifold heater throttle opening too slowly and became standard on many emissions-friendly cars in 1973 and later.
How it works: The resistor works by heating the carburetor spring to 12 volts, which pulls down the lever that will open.
Installation: Install the new bearing housing cover to the housing and tighten the mounting ring bolts so that the cover is fixed in place but can rotate. Place the mark on the cover and for it with the center mark on the casting and tighten the bolts.
This electric choke is standard on many emission-advantaged vehicles from 1973 for onwards. It solves the problem of a manifold heated choke opening too slowly and keeps the carburetor in top condition, giving you a great performing and economical vehicle.
The way it works is that it heats up the spring in the carburetor with 12 volts, which then pulls down on the lever to open.
