Core Function: Serial-to-Fiber Conversion: Converts serial data (RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485) into optical signals for transmission over fiber optic cables. This extends the reach of serial communication and provides immunity to electrical interference.
Fiber Type: Multi-mode (suitable for distances up to 5 km)
Fiber Connector: ST type Serial Interface: Supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 (software configurable)
Baud Rate: 50 bps to 921.6 kbps (supports non-standard baud rates) Operating Temperature: Wide temperature range of -40 to 75°C, making it suitable for harsh environments.
Power Input: 12 to 48 VDC Mounting: Wall-mountable
Ring Operation: Can be used to create a fiber ring network for redundant communication.
Automatic Baud Rate Detection: Automatically detects the serial baud rate, simplifying configuration.
Automatic Data Direction Control (ADDC): Automatically controls the data direction for RS-485 communication.
Signal Isolation: Provides electrical isolation to protect equipment from surges and noise.
Extended Communication Distance: Fiber optic cables allow for longer transmission distances compared to traditional serial cables. Immunity to Interference: Fiber optic communication is immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), ensuring reliable data transmission in noisy environments.1
وصف
The Moxa TCF-90-M-ST is a compact and versatile serial-to-fiber converter that allows you to extend RS-232 communication over fiber optic cables. It's particularly useful in situations where you need to transmit data over longer distances or in environments with electromagnetic interference. The TCF-90 is a compact media converter that transmits RS-232 signals over optical fiber. Power is derived from either the serial port or an external power source. The TCF-90 extends RS-232 transmission up to 5 km with multi-mode fiber, or up to 40 km with single-mode fiber. A pair of TCF-90 converters can be used to connect two RS-232 devices with optical fiber in full-duplex mode. The optical fiber isolates the data signals from dangerous increases in ground potential, ground loops, and electrical EMI/RFI noise, and it enhances data security by eliminating the harmful effects of RF radiation and susceptibility to electromagnetic radiation.
