Each conga in the Richie Gajate-Garcia Signature Series is built from Romanian tilia wood (basswood) with a fiberglass core for added strength. Tilia is about 20% lighter than oak, and its deep tone and earthy look are perfect for the stage. GearNuts reviewers felt the decorative lathed bands added a nice visual touch - an homage to the steel bands of staved congas.
