The fuel pump strainer, often referred to as a sock, is fitted to the bottom of the fuel pump and acts as a barrier for debris inside the fuel tank. It is usually shaped like a tube with the ends heat-sealed shut, and fitted to the fuel pick-up tube. Its job is to prevent larger particles from entering the fuel pump and fuel system.
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Fuel Filter: 1. Car is Hard to Start; 2. Engine Performance Problems(Misfires or Hesitation; Stalling; Decrease in Power and Acceleration); 3. Check Engine Light Comes On; 4. Damaged Fuel Pump.
