Suggestion for drill bit for wood
For Soft Wood: 3/8" (8.5 mm/9 mm) drill bit in soft wood, a smaller hole is suitable for the threaded insert;
For Hard Wood: 3/8" (10 mm) drill a hole that close to the outside threads diameter. You need a slightly larger hole, if the hole is too small, tightening it could crack the wood or the insert.
Note: If you are unsure of the hardness of your wood, test it by drilling an appropriately sized hole before installation.
