The adjustable plate which the laser mounts upon gives you 4.25" from the mounting point. The actual mount is a screw knob. The threading of the screw is 5/8". If your tool's receiving thread is only 1/4" you can use the 5/8" to 1/4" adapter (765-12) to securely fix the laser to the bracket.

To secure the bracket to the wall, all you need is two screws. Once attached, the bracket will stay flush against the wall for extra stability. The height of your laser can be adjusted in two ways. There's a spring release button for moving the laser in larger increments. For a more precise positioning, there is a knob at the bottom that can be turned to adjust the height of the laser to the exact position you need.
