A nasal airway kit is a thin, clear, flexible tube that is inserted into a patient's nostril. It is used to bypass upper airway obstruction at the level of the nose, nasopharynx, or base of the tongue. It also prevents the tongue from falling backward on the pharyngeal wall to prevent obstruction. The Lightning X LX-NPA6 single use nasal airway kit comes with 6 sizes ranging from 22-32 FR, sterile and individually wrapped. Also includes 6 individual lubricating jelly packets, 6 cleansing wipes and a pair of nitrile exam gloves. Latex free. The soft PVC allows airways to ease the airways into the passages while reducing discomfort and the risk of injury. The appropriate airway size can be determined by measuring from the tip of the patient's nose to the tragus of the ear (i.e. soft airway = measure ‘soft to soft'). The average size of a nasopharyngeal airway is 6-7mm for a woman and 7-8mm for a man.
