High-Low (hi-lo) screws are designed to attach plastic pieces (like lawnmower shrouds) to metal pieces (like lawnmower housings). The alternating high and low threads help secure it without damaging the plastic.
Although lawnmowers are the most common application for these screws, we've also found that they are used in snowblowers, go carts, and washing machines.

This is a non-OEM replacement for a hard-to-find, screw used in many brands of lawnmowers and other equipment. It is usually used to attach a plastic shroud or housing to a metal frame. The screw is 3/4" long and has a 1/4"-15 thread size. It has an unslotted hex head. The screw has a high-low design, where half of the threads are thinner and half of them are thicker. The screw is made from case-hardened steel, plated/coated with Zinc CR3 Chromate to inhibit oxidation. It is a self-tapping screw, which is also sometimes known as thread-forming or self-threading. Length: 3/4" Thread size: 1/4"-15 We've found that a screw with these exact same specs is used by two dozen major brands.
