Coptis Chinensis, the Chinese Goldthread, is a species of goldthread native to China. It is close cousin of the peony, is a low-growing plant that is indigenous to the mountainous regions of China. Chinese Goldthread has the longest history, having been used for medicinal purposes for more than 2500 years in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines and is one of the 50 fundamental herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine, where it is called du?n ? hu?ngli?n (Chinese: ????).
