The shaver DOVO No. 2 in 6/8 inches has the name BISMARCK. The name is synonymous, in the 20th century as today, of Solingen's highest razor art. The special features of this model are its characteristic black appearance, high weight and incomparable handling. Exclusively our experts produce this unique piece with a manual work rate of more than 90%. Among many fans, the burnished version is also called "the black prince".
Material This razor is made of carbon steel with the material designation 1.2210, better known as silver steel. To achieve a hardness of about 61 HRC, the material is heated to over 1000 degrees and then immediately hardened with a special oil. Subsequent tempering at about 200 degrees gives the blade elasticity and toughness. The black finish is obtained with an abrasion resistant burnishing.
Handle Material Ebony is one of the most valuable woods on earth. It is extremely hard and heavy. Therefore, it is excellently suitable for the production of a high-quality handle. Its structure allows the wood to maintain its shape even in a humid environment and not to swell. Several sharpening steps are required to create the silky soft surface.
Sharpening With hollow sharpening, the razor is concave ground from the back to the cutting edge. This design combines great flexibility with high longitudinal torsional rigidity. The dynamics of the blade ensures a smooth shave accompanied by a very characteristic sound, which is triggered by the oscillation of the razor to the hair section.
Blade Description The round head is the classic shape of a razor and fits most shaving situations. This blade design has been popular for centuries because the bulbous shape is very safe to use around the ears, at the nose
