Le Renard is an early 19th century French privateer ship of the cutter category, a symbol of strong French identity. It was dedicated to the attack and conquest of the enemy merchant ships of France under the command of the privateer Robert Surcouf. His greatest achievement was to defeat English schooner HMS Alphea in battle and turn the city of Saint Malo into a haven for the families of the corsairs of the world.
This model is in 1:50 scale. When finished, it will have dimensions of 615mm length, 238mm width and 560mm height. Its mounting system with a false keel and frames brings its construction closer to that of a real ship. In 1991, a replica of the original Le Renard was left to water, which still sails proudly across the waters today to the delight of its visitors.
