Professional Honey Refractometer: Accurate Measurement for Honey Quality, Easy Calibration & Long-Lasting Maintenance
Are you a beekeeper, honey producer, inspector, or enthusiast needing reliable honey quality measurements? Our professional honey refractometer, based on total internal reflection, quickly converts honey's refractive index into Brix 58-90%, Baume 38-43, or moisture content 12-27% — helping you judge purity, maturity, and avoid fermentation from incorrect moisture levels.
Compact, durable, and easy to use indoors/outdoors, it features automatic temperature compensation for accurate readings without manual correction.
Note: This refractometer is ONLY for testing honey and other high sugar liquid! Other liquids are unfit!
Step-by-Step Calibration
Calibration ensures accuracy—do it 1-2 times per season or when temperature changes ≥5°C. Below is the calibration method for the analog model (our product):
Calibration Preparation
- Calibration fluid: Refractive oil (best), 99.5% anhydrous glycerin (easy to get), or fresh extra virgin olive oil (convenient, ~27.0% moisture). Do not use distilled water—it causes 1.5% lower moisture readings.
- Tools: Included small screwdriver, lint-free cloth, and pipette.
- Temperature balance: Let the refractometer and calibration fluid sit at 20°C for 30+ minutes.
Refractometer Calibration Solution
1. Clean the prism with a moistened lint-free cloth.
2. Drop 1-2 drops of calibration fluid on the prism, close the cover (no bubbles).
3. Hold towards light, focus the eyepiece to see the blue-white boundary.
4. Use the screwdriver to adjust the top screw until the boundary aligns with the calibration fluid's standard value.
5. Clean and recheck for stability.
Daily Maintenance & Care
After-Use Cleaning
Clean the prism well immediately after use: Use a moistened lint-free cloth or lens paper; use pure water/alcohol for stubborn residues, then dry. Do not use hard objects (scratches prism) or immerse the instrument in water (damages internal parts).
Proper Storage
Store in a cool, dry, dust-free area (avoid sunlight, high temp/humidity, vibration). Avoid dropping or placing heavy objects on it.
Regular Inspection
Check the prism for scratches/fogging, eyepiece clarity. Do not disassemble if there are issues—send to professionals for repair.
