The full remake of the sequel to the FATAL FRAME (PROJECT ZERO) series, originally released in 2003, has the title FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO II: Crimson Butterfly. This Japanese-style horror adventure game follows twin sisters who get lost in an abandoned village haunted by vengeful spirits. With the Camera Obscura, a device that can detect and hermetically lock in the impossible, they fight the ghosts throughout history.

This title has been completely remastered and all the elements from graphics to audio and key gameplay systems and controls have been improved. The signature camera obscura mechanics used to detect and repel ghosts remains an important feature and now offers more immersive and engaging gameplay both in exploration and combat. In addition, the new "Take Mayu by the hand" mechanism offers an intimate aspect through which you can experience the deep bond between the sister stronger than ever.

The story
Twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura visit a stream they remember from their childhood. The area should soon be flooded by a dam wall. As Mio revels in memories, her older sister Mayu curiously follows a crimson butterfly that leads her to the infamous village no longer listed on any map. It is a village of vengeful ghosts who hunt down the twins who have escaped their ritual. A village of never ending night. While Mio tries to find Mayu and escape from the village with her, she unknowingly repeats the horrors of the past with her actions. Hidden deep in the village, Mio discovers the truth behind the "forbidden ritual that no one is ever allowed to observe."
