Schneider-Kreuznach introduces the new Cine Filter Radiant BlackTM in the diffusion filter category. This filter is the ultimate filter for all facets of portrait takes, from intimateclose-ups to wide-angle shots. It brings out exquisite skin tones, provides excellent contrast control, preserves rich blacks and prevents unwanted haze. The filter Radiant BlackTM is available in 4x5.65" and 6.6x6.6" sizes, each in five strengths (1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2), and as a screw-in filter in M77, M82 and M95 sizes in 1/2 and 1 strengths for customization. After being the first DoP to shoot a feature film with the Radiant BlackTM Filters, Matthias Bolliger, well-known DoP & Coach, about the Radiant BlackTM Filters: "Schneider-Kreuznach's new Radiant BlackTM glass filters are soft-focus filters that use colored "sparkles" in the filter glass to create an analog film look while subtly influencing black levels and overall contrast. Combined with the ISCOsphericals and their vintage coating, they defined our "back-to-the-90s" look and visually transformed the adaptation of the novel “A Man of His Class”. The Radiant Black FilterTM is now available and promises outstanding results for all filmmakers and photographers looking for a high-quality diffusion filter solution. When used to smooth skin, diffusion filters create a glow to the image and contrast may be sacrificed. The Radiant Black filters have been created as the answer to the needs of diffusion, while maintaining minimal halation and preserving the rich blacks found in the image shadows. Using Schneiders proprietary process of refining the internal substrate within the filter, our filter engineers are able to precisely refine the size, shape, and placement of the Radiant Black particles. This pattern produces a precise amount of light refraction that allows the perfect effect of softening and glow, without interrupting the contrast balance of the image.
