وصف
Transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), a significant pluripotent cytokine, exhibits a notable immunosuppressive effect. It's one of three closely related mammalian members of the expansive TGF-β superfamily, sharing a distinctive cystine knot structure. Mature human TGF-β1 shares 100% amino acid identity with pig, dog, and cow TGF-β1, and 99% with mouse, rat, and horse TGF-β1. TGF-β1 is a crucial regulator of various biological processes across many tissues and cell types, acting as a tumor suppressor via Smad-mediated signaling. It inhibits the growth factor and oncogene induction of transin/stromelysin, a secreted matrix-degrading metalloprotease.
