Tapio Wirkkal s 1968 Ultima Thule glassware similarly references the icy cold reaches of Scandinaiva and the distinct expressive power of Finnish glass. This beautiful texture is achieved through a time-laboring technique in which the molten glass burns the surface of the wooden molds.
