The aluminium shim is an 18mm crush washer, replacing transfer case components 90430-18008 and 90430-A0003.

Then position the new gasket onto the bolt, reinsert the bolt, and torque to specification. Each gasket replacement takes only minutes, requiring no modifications—simply swap the component.
