Utile flasks are made of high borosilicate glass 3.3 fired for chemical resistance, thermal shock resistance, good mechanical properties and high temperature resistance. Erlenmeyer flasks can be used in general experiments to produce gases or as reaction vessels. Its conical structure is relatively stable and will not tip over. It's long neck, in addition to facilitating the addition of a stopper, slows heat loss and prevents chemical spills, while its flat, wide base allows the conical flask to hold more solution, facilitates stirring with a glass rod, and allows the flask to sit flat on a table.
