18-8 Stainless Steel is a corrosion resistant steel consisting of 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel. This is the most common type of stainless used in fasteners due to it's low cost, corrosion resistance, and strength, as it is considered one of the stronger mild steels available.
Resistant to corrosion from fresh water, animal and vegetable fats, acids founds in food, and the chemicals used to clean cooking surfaces. Not recommended for use around salt water as that may cause rust over time.
The button head is a relatively thin, wide head that spreads the force of the screw over a large bearing area. The overall shape of the head give the screws a decorative look and makes it safer than screws with sharp edges when being used in exposed areas. The internal hex drive is great for driveability, allowing for quick, secure installation.
