See Life Inspiration Photography by Jamie Lee Peterson brings you: Veiled Terrace - a Mammoth Hot Springs art print capturing ethereal mist over travertine terraces.
Hi, I'm Jamie, a Las Vegas nature photographer dedicated to conservation through my work, persistently traveling to capture beauty despite logistical challenges.
Since childhood, I've loved photography. I recall the day I chose to turn professional. Fascinated by the ocean, I took up scuba diving in college. I wanted to capture its wonders on camera to show my mom. Due to my limited knowledge of underwater lighting, my early underwater photos were washed out and green. I began developing this skill at a workshop in San Diego.
On this dive, I found Brittle Stars, a starfish relative, scattered on the ocean floor. Their appearance is similar to long, skinny fingers. I hurried to take a photo before my group moved on, and the moment passed.
I steadied myself for the shot, but an accidental flash startled me. I adjusted my settings. A brief glimpse of the vivid underwater colors on the preview screen left me in awe. The photo captured blue, yellow, and orange creatures on purple rocks, mesmerizing me with their vibrancy. Seeing this rare view, I felt a deep calling to share the underwater world's unique beauty with everyone. I became convinced that my purpose was to photograph nature's magic.
Life's burdens, like work and caregiving, shifted my focus from my dream. My commitments kept me homebound, limiting my connection with nature and photography.
In 2020, life changed drastically. I had lots of time and felt confined at home. So, I bought a travel trailer, embracing frequent camping trips. This newfound mobility marked a significant shift in my life, symbolizing freedom.
Now, I spend weeks annually creating and have sold over 100 photographs. And with great fulfillment, I support conservation for the natural world.
