Option 1: NextStar This option provides basic mount control from PC using NexStar drivers.
For those owners whose mount has a SynScan handcontroller this functionality is available "out of the box".
Prior to SynScan V3.01 the handcontroller had to be placed in a special "serial " for this to work.
From SynScan V3.01 onwards the handcontroller is always in serial , and is always ready to talk with a serial connection.
In this the SynScan unit provides the alignment and goto algorithms and must be configured with time, date and location.
Some Planetarium may provide native support for drivers others may require the use of the platform and associated Nextstar drivers.
Connections: The Synscan is connected to the mount in the usual way
The PC is connected to the Synscan via the serial to RJ-11 cable
