The Spears 838 series reducer bushing is made of schedule 80 CPVC, has a spigot end and a female NPT end, connects two pipes that have different diameters, and is suitable for waste water systems in residential applications. This schedule 80 (thick wall) fitting is made of CVPC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) for better resistance to corrosion and to higher pressures and temperatures than PVC (polyvinyl chloride). CPVC can be connected to other materials, such as steel or copper, using transition fittings.
