Fret Buzz, poor tone, early fret outs – the cause is usually one or more out of level proud frets, an easy fix, there is no need for a full-on level. Just first make sure a high fret is not a loose fret in the slot. Once that is out of the way the rest is easy, anyone can do it perfectly with FretFixxer, the only spot level tool that perfectly crowns the fret at the same time as it levels; One tool One step simplicity.
Two skills are required: ONE: Run the file straight along the length of the fret. TWO: Do not jam any diamond file into a fret… if you do you will either clog the file or tear out the diamond grit. This is true of all diamond files. OTHER THAN THESE TWO RULES, FretFixxer is foolproof.
After filing a fret it is recommended to polish with 600 and finer sandpaper. FretFixxer correctly leaves the fret a tiny bit high (.0003") to allow for material removed by polishing.
The neck must be made flat before doing any kind of fret work, including before using a fret rocker, because if not, the rocker will rock on the back bow that happens when strings are loosened, and with the strings on a rocker cannot read accurately because it will bridge across three frets where for example the 7th fret is sitting lower in the relief. Point… the neck must be flat before doing any kind of fret work. You will need a notched straight edge to achieve this accurately.
NEW Innovative Pat Pend “Conic Curve” file geometry makes FretFixxer compatible with frets from vintage narrow to jumbo wide. FretFixxer is not intended to be used as a fret rocker.
Solid Stainless Steel Fret File Bar measures 3.4" x .61" x .61" and weighs a hefty 4.6 ounces. It features four different length sides making it compatible with all three fret spans across 22 frets. FretFixxer references the two next-door neighbor frets left and right of the proud fret to Spot Level and Crown the fret level with the neighbor frets.
240 Diamond grit guitar fret file cuts in both directions. Diamond fret files are the “Go To” for filing all frets including stainless steel. 240 grit is user friendly clog resistent to work faster and easier to get the job done right.
Ergonomic handle is included: Made of Nitrile rubber, the handle offers more leverage for faster work. That said, FretFixxer works with or without the handle, whichever is more comfortable for you.
