Used in conjunction with templates or shop-built jigs, this top bearing hinge mortising bit (model 16-560) is ideal for mortising in solid wood, plywood, or composites. The solid carbide construction and downshear cutting action ensures clean, crisp hinge and hardware mortises.
It features Freud's specially formulated Titanium Cobalt (TiCo) carbide, which is smaller and more densely packed than other carbides on the market today, enabling the carbide teeth on Freud's blades, bits and cutters to last up to four times longer than standard products. Compared with standard carbide, measuring at around 4 to 5 microns, Freud's TiCo Hi-Density Carbide is just 0.6 to 0.8 microns and size, helping to maximize performance as well as longevity.
