It's mounted via a ¼ 20 that can be wrenched down via an included 3/16” hex tool. Ideally, it's mounted to an accessory with 3mm Arri anti-twist pins, however, if your accessory doesn't have those, the pins can be removed and stashed in the adapter. Additionally, the nested rubber O-ring will help to prevent any slipping. On top of all that, the machined knurling in the oversized thumbwheel is comfortable and has a rubber pad on the mounting side not only to dampen and secure your newly cold shoe converted accessory, but to protect whatever you're mounting it to.
