Presco Marking Whiskers are an alternative marking solution for survey and construction sites, underground utility locating, and many other projects. These 6 in. polypropylene whiskers attach quickly to wood stakes or to 60-penny nails (sold separately).
Presco Marking Whiskers are virtually indestructible and do not break or bend when run over or trampled. The whiskers spring back into position after being run over by lawnmowers, graders, and heavy equipment. The American Public Works Association (APWA) color-coded whiskers are offered in 7 highly visible colors: blue, green, neon orange, neon pink, red, white, and yellow.
Use them alone or with other marking products to identify grades on construction sites, athletic fields, property boundaries, forest trees marked for harvest, cemetery plots, landscaping and irrigation locations, and underground utility lines.
Application Instructions

• Choose the APWA color that matches the utility, grade, or marking purpose for your job site.
- Wood stake method: Hammer a wood stake into the ground at the spot you want to mark. Hold the whisker at the end opposite the metal clip and hammer the metal clip down onto the top of the wood stake.
- Nail method: Insert a 60-penny nail through the circular opening in the metal clip, then hammer the nail into the ground until the clip rests flush on the surface.
- Confirm the polypropylene strands fan out above the ground so the whisker is visible above grass, dirt, and debris.
- To remove, lift the whisker straight up (with nail) or pull the clip off the wood stake after the project is complete.
