This camshaft chain tensioner retainer tool is the essential locking device for servicing timing systems on VW and Audi gasoline engines from 1998 through 2006. These engines use a timing belt to drive one camshaft and a short chain to drive the other – the chain tensioner must be held compressed when removing the camshaft(s) or belt. This tool securely locks the tensioner, preventing it from springing out and causing damage or lost time. Equivalent to VW/Audi factory tools 3366 and T20018.
