The NetVanta 3140 is a high-performance, fixed-port Ethernet router that supports converged access and high-quality voice services. It provides three auto-sensing, routed Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. This product is ideal for carrier-bundled service offerings and enterprise-class Internet access for secure, high-speed corporate connectivity. The NetVanta 3140 is available as a desktop or rack-mount platform. Flexibility and Redundancy The NetVanta 3140 is ideal for multiple applications where Ethernet redundancy is required given the three Gigabit ports that can be LAN- or WAN-oriented. This can be achieved with two Ethernet-supplied access services that provide immediate failover to the active link whenever a link down event occurs. Additionally, the NetVanta 3140 features a USB interface that can be used for 3G/4G backup. Many deployments still have separate voice and data networks, and the NetVanta 3140 is perfect for these, even with a single WAN link; the other two Gigabit interfaces can achieve this. Standards & Protocols The versatile hardware platform of the NetVanta 3140 is complemented by AOS. AOS enables support for static and default routes, demand- and policy-based routing, and enables fast and accurate network convergence using routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, RIP, and PIM sparse mode for multicast routing. Multihoming is also available to provide redundant or backup WAN links to multiple ISPs, ensuring a wide-area connection. Hierarchical QoS is also supported for delay-sensitive traffic such as VoIP or video. To prioritize mission-critical traffic and control network congestion, the NetVanta 3140 uses Low Latency Queuing, Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ), Class-Based WFQ, and DiffServmarking to prioritize IP packets routed over the WAN.
