The factory cam cover on EA888 Gen3 2.0T and 1.8T engines is made of soft aluminum and may experience thread wear over time.This can compromise the ignition coil ground connection, which relies on the cam cover threads for electrical continuity.The Coil Grounding Wire Kit replaces the 8K0 grounding configuration to restore proper grounding function. This kit is compatible with vehicles using EA888 Gen3 engines and ignition coil connectors beginning with part number 8K0.It is designed for fitment on A3 and S3 (8Y), (B8), (Mk7, Mk7.5, Mk8), and R models.Installation requires routing the ground wire to the designated grounding point: for Mk7/Mk7.5/R models, the grounding lug is located behind the passenger-side headlight; for Mk8, the same location applies; for A3/S3 (8Y), the grounding point is on the passenger-side frame near the fender behind the headlight, or alternatively the M6 threaded hole on the engine mount may be used if access is limited; on A3/S3 8Y, routing to the driver's side chassis grounding point near the rear is also possible. The kit uses Teflon-insulated silver-plated copper wire rated for continuous up to 200°C.The wire provides electrical continuity between the ignition coil and the vehicle's chassis ground point, restoring the grounding path originally intended by the manufacturer.
